Chairs for Charity 2013



Chairs for Charity returns to Calaveras County on Jan. 26, 2013

San Andreas Town Hall is the venue for 2013’s event.  As in the past, attendees will enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, no-host bar with a special signature drink, live and silent auctions of creatively decorated chairs and/or chair-related items, an assortment of valuable raffle items to choose from, and an opportunity to participate in raucous rounds of Xtreme Musical Chairs.  Admission is $25 – advance ticket sales only. The Pickle Patch, San Andreas, will cater dinner and Mindi Bach will serve as our emcee and auctioneer.

So, now is the time for local artists, non-profit groups, schools and local organizations to find that perfect chair to transform into a “Work of Art”.  Entries in 2013 are limited to 30, so make your plans now and mark your calendars.  Judges will choose the top 10 and those will be sold during the live auction segment of the event.  Others will be auctioned off via silent auction.
All entry forms must be at the Arts Council office/Gallery by December 21, 2012.

Sponsoring and hosting Chairs for Charity 2013 are Calaveras Arts Council and Soroptimist International of Calaveras County.  Broad ranges of artworks are encouraged. Past entries have included benches, photography of chairs, ceramics, quilting pieces, children’s high and rocking chairs and chairs featuring live plants.  The sky is truly the limit.

 “Chairs for Charity will allow the two organizations to continue their programs and projects in enriching the lives of area residents and guests,” states Mary Jane Genochio, Executive Director of the Arts Council.
