Tuolumne Sheriff Dept press release re: Columbia Fire suspect arrested

Yesterday at around 6:30 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the City Hotel in Columbia regarding a man causing a disturbance and lighting something on fire. As they arrived in the area, they saw fire fighters attempting to put out a fire at the Columbia House Restaurant on Main St. Witnesses pointed out 21 year old Daenon Vincent Brewer of Tuolumne City and identified him as the suspect. When Deputies contacted Brewer he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances. After an investigation it was determined that Brewer had forced entry to the front door of the restaurant and lit a Christmas tree on fire. The extent of the damage is unknown at this time. Brewer was arrested and charged with Arson, Burglary, Violating Probation, Drunk in Public, and Possession of Marijuana.
