Possible snow to 2500 feet

11-8-12
...LIGHT SNOW FOR SIERRA FOOTHILLS & MOUNTAINS TODAY AND FRIDAY...

.A COLD STORM MOVING INTO NORCAL TODAY AND FRIDAY WILL
BRING LIGHT SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS AND UPPER FOOTHILLS OF THE
SIERRA. SNOW LEVELS DURING THE DAY TODAY WILL RANGE BETWEEN
3500 AND 4500 FEET. SNOW LEVELS CONTINUE TO LOWER TONIGHT
INTO FRIDAY MORNING DOWN TO AROUND 2500 FEET WITH SOME LOCAL AREAS
GETTING SNOW OR A RAIN/SNOW MIX DOWN TOWARDS 2000 FEET BY EARLY
FRIDAY. THERE IS NOT A LOT OF MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM.
HOWEVER...THIS WILL BE THE FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON FOR THE
FOOTHILLS WHERE THEY COULD GET UP TO 3 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION.
MOST OF THE SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE NEAR AND ABOVE 5000 FEET.
ESTIMATED TOTALS ARE AROUND 6 INCHES AT 5000 FEET AND UP TO 10
INCHES NEAR THE CREST. GUSTY MOUNTAIN WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THE
STORM AND SINCE SNOW WILL BE LIGHT...PERIODS OF REDUCED
VISIBILITIES ARE EXPECTED NEAR PASS LEVELS DURING THE STORM.
