Letter to the Editor re: burglary in Copperopolis

I have lived in the beautiful Sierra foothills for my whole life. I worked hard, was a single Mom who raised a US Marine who is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom. After my 42nd birthday this year I was finally able to buy my first home. I have been in my home for less than 6 months. I was so proud!!

Today, after having had surgery on Tuesday and feeling just well enough to go to work for a few hours, I came home to find my home had been broken into. The Sheriff said it was likely kids, since they didn't take anything big. But they did walk away from my ransacked home with many memories.

While my son was growing up, he and I would travel we didn't have much money for souvenirs, we would purchase pins, from places like Hard Rock Cafe with dates on them. My grandma who passed left me her Boliva wrist watch. My son while he was on leave in Japan bought me a beautiful cherry jewelry box in it were fake pearls I'd bought in Kona along with other trivial things of no monetary value.....just my memories.

Such a shame to work so hard, and have someone come into your home, leave the TV's and take the cheap laptop, work camera and things I cherished most, trinkets with memories attached.
