Calaveras Democrats host speaker re: The Affordable Care Act - What is it? What isn't it?

Calaveras Democrats are honored to host Rose Roach, field director for the River Delta Field Office of the California School Employees Association (CSEA) since 2003. Ms Roach has been focusing her work on educating the public about single payer health care reform.  On Thursday, September 13, 6:30 pm, in the Board Chambers, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, Ms Roach will give an overview of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Her talk highlights the portions of the law already in effect and provides an overview of the sections yet to be implemented. She will also discuss what’s next in the fight for health care as a human right.

In addition to her responsibilities with CSEA, Ms Roach is the Central California Vice chair of the California Democratic Party’s Progressive Caucus having also served as the Caucus’ Health Care committee chair.  Ms Roach is one of CSEA’s representatives on the Board of the California Education Coalition for Health Care Reform (CECHCR) and is the labor co-chair for CECHCR’s Governmental Affairs Committee.  Ms Roach is the recipient of the San Joaquin County Democratic Central Committee’s 2010 “Advocate in Democracy” award and was named the Tracy Democratic Club’s 2008 Activist of the Year for her work in educating the community on health care reform.
