So, you may ask, what is Rock Show? We put together
a production that incorporates high energy Rock music from the 80s.
Some may call it the “Hair Band” era or even “Pop Rock”. Either way you
slice it, music in the 80s had a distinct sound and feel that is still
near and dear to the hearts of many of us from that generation. I often
flashback to playing these songs all along the Jersey Shore in some of
the hottest night clubs in the 80s. I am proud to now share the stage
with my wife Dana and our dear friend Martha (whom we met singing at the
Sports Pub almost 3 years ago).
Rock
Show incorporates a similar vibe from the “Rock of Ages” Broadway play
which Dana and I have seen numerous times. We have an actual bar on
stage where some of the performance flows around. We have numerous
“mash-up” songs, which incorporate songs that have similar chord
progressions or melodies that are intertwined with one another. Again a
concept derived from the ROA Broadway Show and the Motion Picture. All
of the songs I have produced specifically for Rock Show. I play numerous
instruments on the tracks and in the show itself giving it a different
feel than what you would expect seeing a standard Rock Band. During the
show I can switch off from Lead Guitar, to Bass to Keyboards or even
Drums. We don’t just sing the songs. They are acted out. We have a group
of professional dancers that are choreographed for each song whom dance
around us and with us throughout the show.
We
utilize all wireless gear. Wireless mics for all vocals, I even have a
headset mic so the girls or I can roam anywhere on or off stage (we do
audience participation so be prepared to help sing along). We have
wireless transmitters for my guitars and I also incorporate wireless
earsets. A lot of effort has gone into this and when you hear the
performance every nuance has been taken into consideration when I
produced these songs.
During
the show in Town Square, we will have an 80’s costume contest so
everyone can get in the 80s mood! Spread the word! We will also be
hosting 4 pre-performance groups starting at 6:00pm. The Black Skulls (a
teen band from Modesto) will open the festivities at 6:00pm.
Copperopolis native Jordan Strauch will do an Acoustical performance
from 6:40pm to 6:55pm. The High Voltage Band (another teen band from
Modesto)will perform at 7:00pm. Then to close out the pre-performances,
Michael Impink and Jacob Phillips will do an Acoustic set from 7:40pm to
7:55pm.
