Each year Copperopolis Town Square hosts a scarecrow raffle that brings in monies for local charitys. Scarecrows are made by groups or individuals and then they are proudly displayed in storefronts throughout Town Square until the day of the auction. At which time the scarecrows are brought to the gazebo and auctioned to the highest bidder. The auctioneer this year will be Town Squares own John Campanella, an integrated technologies guru and '80's rock afficianado.
This year event coordinator Linda Stefanick felt that since the spaghetti feed was to benefit the library which in turn benefitted the youth of the community, what better time than to highlight our local youth. With the plan set, the gears were put into motion. Linda placed calls and the ball was rolling.
To coordinate teens takes a team of talented personnel...enter Josh Pfeiffer, Danny Burton and Danna Goately.
Josh Pfeiffer, best known locally as the 'American Crooner' or sometimes more often than not as "that guy with the silken voice," will be mentoring the youth on sound system usage, stage presence, and projection.
Danny Burton, lead singer and guitarist for Copper Holdings Company, will also be guiding the youth in presence, projection and helping those with acoustical talents shine.
Danna Goately, the name and driving force behind Copper Kids Idol, has organized the group of kids and has pointed them in one direction...not a small feat.
The Copper Gazette will highlight daily one of the youth performers that will be performing at the October 15, 2011 Scarecrow Auction event beginning Monday October 10, 2011. Watch for their interveiws and once again you will find yourself amazed and excited about what our future holds. The talent and ambitions in this town alone are amazing. And by all means, come out to support our youth, our library and our local charities on 10-15-11.
