COPPEROPOLIS FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
PRESS RELEASE
March 25, 2011
On Thursday night, March 24, 2011, during an Executive Session of the CFPD Board of Directors, the Board took proactive action to preserve existing emergency response staffing levels following successive years of declining property tax revenues and near future uncertainties.
On April 1, 2011, Fire Chief Keith Cantrell will voluntarily assume the position of Captain assigned to administration until the District completes a statewide search for a part-time fire chief. Thereafter, Cantrell will be assigned to an engine company. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in fire service administration and reside in or be willing to relocate to Calaveras County. The move is expected to save the District $75,000 annually.
The Board will continue to examine District operations in an effort to identify additional cost efficiency measures during these difficult fiscal times. Preserving emergency response levels remains the Board’s top priority.
John Maness, Director
Chairman of the Board
