Sheriff Dept press release re: Suspicious Circumstance at Valley Springs Elementary

On 7-31-2014 at 0810 hours, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Valley Springs Elementary to investigate a report of a female student being coaxed to enter a suspicious vehicle. On 07/30/14 at about 1600 hours, a female student rode the bus from Calaveras High School to Valley Springs Elementary. She was waiting for a parent to arrive, when she was approached by an unknown person driving a light blue Chevrolet pickup. The driver pulled along the female student who was standing near the gymnasium and asked her if she needed a ride. The female student refused and the driver accelerated away from her. The driver made no further attempts towards the female student. This incident was initially posted to a social website and later reported to the Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department is aware of the incident and conducting follow-up.

The driver was described as white male adult about 30 years of age, medium build, and blond hair. He drove a light blue Chevrolet, extended cab, two wheel drive pick up truck. This case is still being investigated.
