'Church Basement Ladies' a Second Helping - funny and moving

Sierra repertory's Church Basement Ladies - The sequel 'A Second Helping', is witty, moving and just plain fun.

There is no need to have seen the first performance of Church Basement Ladies to thoroughly enjoy this clever sequel.

The sequel brings back the characters of Karin, Vivian and Mavis, all local ladies with different views on life, love, and home, yet brought together as the ladies of the local Lutheran Church where they are more than just the basement kitchen ladies, they are the glue that binds the congregation together and creates an unbreakable sisterhood.

Karin (Nancy O'Brien) is the quiet new leader of the basement kitchen, silent yet strong facing changes with grace and determined acceptance.

Vivian (Caitlin Randall) is the epitomy of the "proper Lutheran" woman, embracing all that is Lutheran, yet realizing - begrudgingly- that 'times are a changin'.

Mavis (Becky Saunders) is the farmers wife full of farming anecdotes and analogies that will have you laughing so hard you cry.

CBL the Sequel is set in 1969 when world outside the church's four walls are changing at a rapid pace.

This play was in constant motion, from songs to dialogue to subtle actions. A hoot, from beginning to end.
