VFW Post 12118 Ladies Auxiliary joins the pledge of allegiance at Copper School

On MAy 6, 2013 Diane Fischer, a represresanetative fromt he VFW Post 12118 Ladies Auxiliary, was present at the pledge of allegiance held at Copperopolis Elementary school.
After the pledge she introduced herself and thanked the children and staff for allowing her to participate. She also shared a few gems of wisdom from the VFW Etiquette of Stars and Stripes booklet regarding flag etiquette, care and the meanings of the colors.

"George Washington described the white in the Flag as symbolizing our desire for liberty - the land of the free.  We say the red signifies the courage and sacrifices of the nation's defenders, and the blue has been likened to the loyalty and unity of our citizens."

The Ladies Auxiliary plans to attend more flag ceremonies with the children at Copper school in the next school year.
