Weekend Statistics
SAN ANDREAS
– In Calaveras
County, 4 people were
arrested by the CHP between 6:00 pm
Friday and 11:59 pm Sunday. 2 arrests were for Driving Under the
Influence compared to 1 person being arrested last year. Our officers handled 4 accidents, none were
DUI related. Last year there were 5 accidents
during this same time period. And for
the second year in a row we had 0 fatalities for the county.
The San Andreas CHP Officers were working hard at slowing
motorists down. During the holiday
weekend they wrote 39 citations. Most
were for speeding including several mechanical violations. There were 5 citations issued for failing to
wear their seatbelt, failing to stop at a stop sign, passing over solid double
yellow line, an open container of alcohol, and possession of marijuana.
This year we saw a reduction in accidents for the
county. The San Andreas Area handled 509
collisions compared to 560 in 2011.
Unfortunately we had 9 fatal accidents with 10 fatalities compared to
2011 where we saw 9 people die in this county.
4 of these fatal accidents were DUI related. There were a total of 57 injury/non-injury
accidents where someone was driving under the influence compared to 2011 where
there was a total of 64. The number of
DUI arrests were also down this year with 199 compared to 243 last year.
