Assembly Member Frank Bigelow, R-O’Neals,
announced that he has been appointed Vice-Chair of the Assembly Water,
Parks and Wildlife Committee for the 2012-14 legislative session by
Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez.
“It’s an honor to have been appointed to serve as the Vice Chairman of
the Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee,” Bigelow said. “I look forward
to working with Chairman Hueso and the entire committee to tackle the
state’s complex water issues and am eager to get started crafting
solutions for our state’s future.”
As Vice Chairman, Bigelow will work diligently to achieve bipartisan
solutions to the critical issues facing the committee, while continuing
to defend the interests of local taxpayers. Water resources, flood
management, fish and game, parks and recreation, and wildlife are
critical to the people of rural California. As Vice-Chair, Bigelow will
continue to advocate on behalf of the state’s rural residents, ensuring
their voices are heard in Sacramento.
As a rancher and businessman, Bigelow understands how the state’s water
resources and water policies affect small businessmen, farmers and
ranchers. As Vice-Chair, Bigelow’s priorities will be on finding ways to
create jobs for millions of people throughout the state and ensuring
that California’s farmers and ranchers can continue to produce the
safest, most abundant food supply in the world.
“Frank Bigelow understands that solving California’s water crisis is
about more than ensuring clean water comes out of the tap each morning.
It’s also about jobs for millions of people and the economic health of
our state, and protecting water rights. As vice chair of the Water,
Parks and Wildlife Committee, he will play an important role in
responsibly planning our state’s water future,” said Assembly Republican
Leader Connie Conway, of Tulare.
In addition to Bigelow’s Vice Chairmanship of Water, Parks and
Wildlife, he’ll serve on the Appropriations, Governmental Organization,
Natural Resources and Rules Committees.
Assembly Member Frank Bigelow, R-O’Neals, represents the 5th Assembly
District in the California Legislature, which includes all or parts of
Placer County, El Dorado County, Alpine County, Amador County, Calaveras
County, Tuolumne County, Mariposa County, Madera County and Mono
County.
