Once Upon a Time on the Square Hosted Local Author Book Signings

Authors Paul Stein and Drinda Jean were on hand Saturday afternoon at Once Upon a Time on the Square to sign copies of their newly released books: The Fourth Law by Paul Stein and Kasdeja, The Fifth Fallen Angel by Drinda Jean.
Paul Stein, has worn many hats: District 2 Supervisor 97-04, Vice President of Castle & Cooke, member Calaveras Community Foundation, Chief Deputy Director of the California Department of Fish and Game, Captain of the Blue Mountain Search and Rescue Team, and Fish hatchery owner. He can now proudly add author to his long list of achievements.
While his author bio is modest, listing only a few of his accomplishments, Paul pulls from his diverse background to create a web of intrigue, plotting good against evil, testing the strength of family ties while exploring the Grand Unified Theorem of astrophysics. A page turning, thinking man’s read.
Paul, a prolific writer in the political world, has always “loved the craft of writing.” The whole process for the creation and completion took approximately three years, “One year to organize my thoughts, one year to write them, and one year to edit.” While it is only natural that characters within a book tend to take on characteristics of the author, Paul is quick to point out that any comparison drawn between he and any character in the book must be very minute because though some characters are genuine and good, “some of the characters are really bad.”
Drinda Jean has managed to keep one foot firmly planted in the corporate world while her heart and soul seek a more harmonious calling. The great grand daughter of a spiritual medium, Drinda embraces all that is spiritual, to the extent that she has offered many sacred sites excursions, visiting up 2400 sacred sites herself.
The idea for her book Kasdeja began 13 years ago. After completing the first chapter and the last chapter she found she could not complete it at that time, “It was too dark, I had to put it away.” Moving to Copperopolis five years ago she felt the call to complete the book. Whether is was the time to tell the story or if it was the time the world was ready to hear thte story she wasn’t sure, she just knew it was time. Kasdeja enters the world of pro-life and pro-choice showing both the “consequences of fanaticism and the significance of compassion.”
Both authors have more books coming down the pike. Paul is working on another science fiction meets reality, good versus evil manuscript tentatively titled “Incognito.” Drinda has the final three books in this series already mapped out in her head and is currently putting pen to paper to make them come to life.
Both books, along with other local authors, are available at Once Upon a Time on the Square in Copperopolis Town Square.
