Federal Mandate to Lower New Melones Affecting Lake Tulloch?

According to Randi Field of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Central Valley Project Operations Office the soon to be implemented Federal Mandate lowering levels of New Melones to reduce the salinity of the Delta will not have an adverse affect on the current draw down schedule that Tri Dam has posted for Lake Tulloch. (Oct 30 to Mar 21 states 498 to 501.6.)

Mr Field stated, "Lake Tulloch maintains a reservoir storage elevation between 498 feet and 501.6 feet during the fall, winter and spring as required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood protection purposes. However, inflow to Tulloch Lake during a rain event or flood control may cause a temporary deviation from these scheduled elevations."

Though this evades the obvious summer months and the impact that the possible lowering of New Melones will have on Lake Tulloch during those months, it is important to put weight on Mr. Fields response to the possible adverse affect on Lake Tulloch, "Current Tulloch Lake storage elevations are not expected to drop below historical or scheduled levels."
