Sheriff Dept Press release re: CALAVERAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S VOLUNTEER UNIT Sheriff Volunteer Promoted

PRESS RELEASE – CALAVERAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S VOLUNTEER UNIT
Sheriff Volunteer Promoted

Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz and Captain Jim Macedo, along with Sheriff Volunteer Captain Don Crouch have promoted Betty Miner to Volunteer Lieutenant.  She has served the Volunteer unit since 2004.

Lieutenant Betty Miner will supervise the unit’s patrol and event activities and organize training. As well she is responsible for quartermaster supply needs.   Her main activity will be to insure the sheriff substations and beat patrols run efficiently and maintain a regular schedule.

Both Captain Crouch and Lieutenant Miner will work together to maintain the essence of the job; patrolling, interactions with the public and preventing crime.

Captain Crouch and Lieutenant Miner stress the need for additional uniformed volunteers.  Any retired or semi-retired person interested in joining this unit is encouraged to visit one of the sheriff substations throughout the county or call (209)754-6500.  Training is provided for new volunteers and background checks are made on all applicants.  Senior citizens welcome!
