According to information received from the Calaveras County Sheriff Office, Sheriff Elect Gary Kuntz became Sheriff Gary Kuntz at 12:00 noon on January 3rd, 2011.
Gary Kuntz, when running for office vowed to "restore (the community's) trust in the Sheriff’s Office, as well as work to foster respect and cooperation among all segments of our communities."
The following is a list of a few of the things Gary strives to accomplish as your Sheriff:
•Work to foster respect and cooperation among Calaveras citizens, county departments, and the Board of Supervisors.
•Enforce the laws of the land equally and justly for ALL in a non-partisan, non-discriminatory manner.
•Actively work with each community to better understand its needs in order to focus resources for maximum benefit.
•Hold townhall meetings throughout the county to encourage open communication.
•Reestablish programs such as school visits by deputies to educate students about their importance to the overall safety of the community; the resident deputy and community policing programs to highlight the importance of a good relationship between citizens and officers.
