Community Garden work day 11-15-14
We will have a work party in the garden this coming Saturday 11/15/14 from 8:30 until noon

Food pantry needs
Copperopolis Community Food Pantry
This is the time of year when many individuals and community
groups start planning donations and food
drives for the food pantry. We thought it might be helpful to make a list of
commonly needed items to help answer the question, “What do you need?”
We need supplies of non-perishable foods in their original
unopened packaging, i.e. canned or boxed items. As always we ask that no
expired items be donated as we are not allowed to distribute them to families.
Soup, especially cream of mushroom Sugar
Pumpkin Salt
Beans (canned or dry) Pepper

Boxed potato mixes (mashed, au gratin) Mayonnaise

Angels Camp PD press release re: Battery on school employee
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On November 10, 2014 at approximately 12:55 pm
the Angels Camp Police Department received a report of a battery on a
school employee at Bret Harte High School. Upon investigation it was
determined that a 15 year old student hit a teacher with his fist
causing injury to the teacher’s head.
The student was arrested and turned over to the custody of Calaveras County Probation.
Due to the age of the suspect, no additional information will be released. 
Sheriff Dept press release re:West Point Robbery Investigation
At approximately 2050 hours, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office
was dispatched to Smitty Lane in West Point for a robbery. A 24 year old
male victim was confronted by three unknown male suspects at his
residence. The suspects forcible bounded the victim with duct tape and
brandished a revolver type hand gun. Another subject brandished a pocket
knife while the remaining suspect entered the victim’s residence and
ransacked the home. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of marijuana
and fled from the household. The suspects were described as three
black male adults. One suspect had dreadlock style hair and one subject
was lighter skin than the others. The victim was unable to provide any
further description of the suspects. This case is still an active
investigation. The Sheriff’s Department is asking for anyone that has
knowledge of the incident to contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s
Department Anonymous Tip Line at (209) 754-6030.

CHP press release re:PACK-THE-PATROL CAR TURKEY & TOY DRIVE
San Andreas, CA – The California Highway Patrol and the
Calaveras County Resource Connection are teaming up for a Pack-The-Patrol Car
Turkey & Toy Drive. You too can
participate in the event dedicated to feeding Calaveras County families in need
this holiday season.
The Calaveras County Food Bank is in desperate need of
turkeys and all other food items. “We
are planning on serving 900-1000 families and are in need of turkeys, hams, and
all other holiday food items” stated Jeannie Hayward, Program Director for the
Food Bank.
Calaveras Sheriff Volunteers provided traffic control for the 3rd annual Copperopolis Veterans Day Parade
Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Sgt. Bob Fienberg and six
other Sheriff Volunteers (Lt. Ed Anderson, Lyle Bradt, Sgt. Ralph Carlascio,
Louis Chiu, Ed Evans and Pat Toepel) provided traffic control during the
Veteran’s Day Parade in Copperopolis on Veteran’s Day. These Sheriff Volunteers, many of whom are
veterans themselves, take pride in honoring the veterans for their service and
sacrifice to this beautiful nation. The parade was well attended and all
enjoyed the beautiful weather in such a memorable public event.
The Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteer Unit continues to
need more volunteers to assist various communities in holding public events in
Calaveras County. Serious-minded Calaveras County citizens, retired or
semi-retired, wishing to help their community and meeting the qualifications
and requirements are encouraged to apply by calling the Calaveras County
Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-5600, or visit sheriff@calaveras.ca.us. Seniors are
welcome and no law enforcement experience is necessary.
Help Harmony Ranch help more children with special needs - Sponsor a Therapeutic Horse
We at Harmony Ranch are looking for donors to help with the cost of
keeping a lesson horse for one year. The cost for a year is 3500.00;
basic horse care needs include feed, proper hoof care and supplements
(this does not include veterinary expenses). With this donation you will
be helping us towards our goal of maintaining 8 to 12 lesson horses.
Harmony Ranch, Inc. has had the honor of providing therapeutic riding services to our community since 2011. The results have been amazing for us as well as our students. Our services target children and adults with disabilities as well as the economically compromised in our community. At Harmony Ranch we have a goal to be of service to as many people in need as we can facilitate but none of this can be accomplished with out our horses, they are the corner stone of our program. The horses make all of our results possible. We have seen that the horse-student relationship is helping to build independence, socialization skills, community integration, mobility, confidence, self esteem, trust, physical strength and dexterity to name a few in all of our students. These life skills are key for the students to heal in partnership with our Horses.
