Food pantry needs

Copperopolis Community Food Pantry

This is the time of year when many individuals and community groups start planning donations and  food drives for the food pantry. We thought it might be helpful to make a list of commonly needed items to help answer the question, “What do you need?”

We need supplies of non-perishable foods in their original unopened packaging, i.e. canned or boxed items. As always we ask that no expired items be donated as we are not allowed to distribute them to families.

Soup, especially cream of mushroom                          Sugar

Pumpkin                                                                                  Salt

Beans (canned or dry)                                                             Pepper

Rice                                                                                         Soy sauce

Boxed potato mixes (mashed, au gratin)                                Mayonnaise

Spaghetti or tomato sauce                                                       Olives

Pasta                                                                                        Mushrooms

Mac and Cheese

Peanut butter

Fruit

Cake mixes

Frosting

Cranberry sauce

Green Beans

Corn

Cereal

Oatmeal

Cooking oil

Syrup

Ketchup

Mustard

Salad dressing

Food Pantry Distribution tomorrow 7-17-14 at NEW LOCATION

The Copperopolis Community Food Pantry and the Copper Closet are having their monthly distribution tomorrow, July 17 from 1-4 pm at our NEW LOCATION: Lake Tulloch Bible Church. Patrons are asked to park in the gravel area to avoid disrupting neighboring businesses. Additional info about the pantry can be found at www.copperpantry.org.

Copper Food pantry distribution 6-19-14

Copperopolis Food pantry distribution is this Thursday, June 19 from 1pm - 4pm.

Volunteers at the Food Pantry Distribution Day - working hard

Many volunteers come out on food distribution day, 4-17-14, at the Food Pantry to make the day a seamless success. Those inside, box and bag refrigerated items, cooking ingredients and special bags for seniors. Those outside bag everything from potatoes to dog food, apples to onions. All in anticipation of feeding the 60+ families the food pantry helps each month.

Along the side of the Bridge building the Copper Closet is set up with free clothing to those who need it.

Our community is wonderful! Our volunteers make it so. Thank you to ALL volunteers in Copper!

Copper Food Pantry serves 62 families in February

In February 2012 we had 35 families ask for food assistance. In February 2013 we had 52 families. Yesterday, February 20, 2014, we had 62 families ask for food. That is a new record for the month of February. Is the economy getting better? Evidently in Copperopolis it is not.

 

We have heard that food prices are going up this summer, but they are jumping at an alarming rate right now. We started the distribution day with our shelves and freezers full of food, and by the end of the day we had given out a majority of our supply while running out of some things completely. We anticipate doing a lot of shopping for basic items to keep up with the requests.
