Bret Harte Homecoming JV brings home a win - by Kristina Zimmerman

Friday night under the lights was in full swing again, but this time, it was Homecoming! October 11, at Angels Camp, Bret Harte celebrated the annual Homecoming with a downtown parade, rally, announcement of the Homecoming queen, cheerleaders and of course, the football games. 

Homecoming started off full swing with the parade leading to the downtown rally. Staff and students were able to come together as one in celebration. 

The parade was then followed by the downtown rally, where cheerleaders and band members performed, guardian angels were revealed, and the football players got fired up. Once the rally was over and the community was set into high gear, the JV game began its battle against Amador. 

The JV Bullfrogs dominated and in the end they come out with a win of 27-14. Great job boys!

Copperopolis Homecoming 2012 food, fun, friends and a grand parade

The 2012 Copperopolis Homecoming was a perfect day!
The weather, a little on the hot side, was perfect for a parade.
The day began with a pancake breakfast in the historic Armory. After a full tummy, a short walk away was the Copperopolis Museum - open one day a year...homecoming day. The museum manned by none other than local amateur historian Ed Gouzzenne. As you walk through the museum it begins to pull you into the history of our town. From mining to brothels and everything in between.

Soon the parade began with free hotdogs, Smokey the Bear and ribbon awards quickly following. The pictures will tell the story.

Homecoming Grand Marshals

Copperopolis Homecoming Parade 2012 Grand Marshals 

 Nancy Dahlberg and Justine Nantelle

     For many years, these two hard working ladies, Justine Nantelle and Nancy Dahlberg have worked as volunteers for the Copperopolis Community Center working such fund raisers as the annual Wine Tasting in January and Homecoming in June.  For the Copperopolis Elementary School Historical Tours, sponsored by the Community Center, you will see them dressed in period clothing and giving out cookies to the children on the tour.  They are always there to help whenever they are needed. 

      Not only do they volunteer for the CCC, but Justine also supports The Volunteer Fireman’s Association, and The Lions Club. If there is a happening in Copperopolis, you will probably see one or both of these ladies doing their thing, helping the community and doing it with a smile on their face. They deserve to be recognized for their support within our community.
