Copper community helps fill the boot for the food pantry

Copper firefighters (paid staff and volunteers), members of the food pantry and representatives of the VFW Post 12118, with the help of our very generous community, pulled off another amazing fill the boot event this past weekend.

The proceeds from these bi-yearly fill the boots raise approximately 60% of the food pantry's yearly budget. With the pantry seeing a consistent climb in the numbers of families served the funds are not only a wonderful gift from the community but a necessity to continue the pantry's outreach to the more than 50 families they are currently serving.

Copperopolis Volunteer Firefighter Association president Don Rollings is constantly in wonder at the generosity of the community. "Each year the community is so giving, and each year as we are closing up people continue to come to us handing us money for the food pantry."

FIll the Boot for the Food Pantry a success

At the Memorial Day weekend 'Fill the Boot' event for the Copperopolis Food Pantry held at the IGA parking lot and staffed by Copper Fire firefighters, food pantry volunteers and members of the VFW Post 12118, the mood was celebratory as car after car showed their generosity and support for our food pantry with their donations.

The Copperopolis Food pantry serves at any time between 50 to 60 families per month.

The money raised through he fill the boot events "is the lions share of the annual budget," said pantry Director David Crawford.

Copper Fire Fill-the-boot will fill many stomachs

At the Copperopolis Fire Protection District bi-annual fill-the-boot for the food pantry, paid staff, volunteers and cadets alike lined the entrance to Lake Tulloch Plaza with boots in hand as shoppers and community members lined up to donate to the local food pantry.

Helping this year were members of Copperopolis VFW Post 12118 and Ladies Auxiliary as well as members of the Copperopolis Food pantry.

The Labor Day weekend fill-the-boot raised $2,536.00 for the Copperopolis Food Pantry, which is currently providing food to 50+ families.

Thank you Copperopolis and its visitors for helping to support our food pantry.

Fill-the-boot this weekend

Saturday September 1st the firefighters and volunteers from Copperopolis Fire Protection District will be hosting their bi-annual 'Fill-the-boot for the food pantry' event at the Lake Tulloch Plaza from 10 am to 2 pm. (Volunteers from the VFW Post 12118 and Ladies Auxiliary will also be helping at this event.)

Twice a year for the past few years CFPD has been raising much needed funds for our local food pantry through the fill-the-boot program. Just recently they have been joined by the VFW and Auxiliary.

The food pantry currently feeds an average of 45 to 50 local families. As the economy fluctuates so does that number. In 2011 the fill-the-boot raised 75% of their donations for the year.

Fill-the-boot for the Food Pantry a record

At the Copper Fire semi-annual fill the boot, held May 26, 2012, the Copper Firefighters and the VFW veterans raised $3,028.00 for the local food pantry. "We would have a hard time keeping the doors open without their fundraising efforts on our behalf. We appreciate what they do for us so much!" Said a spokesperson from the Copperopolis Food Pantry.

Currently the food pantry serves between 45 -55 families per month, with greater numbers seen in the last 6 months due to the downward shift in the economy. The food pantry is set up in hopes of reaching and helping families in Copperopolis who are experiencing hardship, temporary or long-term, and need help having enough to eat.

Copper Fire semi-annual 'Fill the Boot' for the Food Pantry

On Saturday May 26, 2012, from 9 am to 1 pm the firefighters - both volunteer and paid staff - will be hosting the semi-annual 'Fill the Boot' campaign for the local food pantry at the Young's IGA parking lot.

Over the years the firefighters have raised enough money to help offset the cost considerably for the food pantry to help those in need, reach more persons, and afford them additional quality food products.

If you would like to help our local food pantry please stop by the Young's IGA parking lot and help 'Fill the Boot.'
