6 & 7 October 2013, a male subject was captured on surveillance cameras walking through the Wal-Mart parking lot searching for sales receipts and picking them up off of the ground. The subject then entered Wal-Mart and selected the items matching the ones listed on the receipts and attempted to return the items for cash, even though he had not purchased them. The subject was identified as Jason Peluso, 31 of Sonora.

On 9 October 2013, a search warrant was severed on Peluso’s residence. Upon officer’s arrival to the residence, Peluso and a second subject attempted to run inside the residence, but were stopped. The second subject was identified as Darryl Tinkle Jr., 24 of Sonora. A check showed an active felony warrant for Tinkle’s arrest, for bringing a controlled substance into a correctional facility. During the search warrant, methamphetamine was located, along with receipts and possible stolen property.
Peluso and Tinkle were taken into custody without any further incident. During the service of the search warrant, a subject called Tinkle’s phone. An officer answered the phone and spoke with a male subject who requested to meet to purchase narcotics from Tinkle. The officer determined who the subject was and meet them at their place of employment, as they stated they were at work.
The officers contacted the subject at his place of employment and identified him as Dale Cabral, 32 of Tuolumne. Cabral was in possession of a controlled narcotic when contacted. He was taken into custody without incident.
All three were transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked. Peluso was booked for felony burglary and felony possession of a controlled substance. Tinkle was booked on the felony warrant. Cabral was booked for felony possession of a controlled narcotic and felony attempting to purchase controlled substances.
