San Andreas –
8AM, Friday, June 14, 2013
the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) of CAL FIRE will suspend all burning
permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras
County, Eastern
Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. The official
proclamation is attached.
This declaration rescinds all previously approved Dooryard Burn Permits (LE-62a) and large-scale Project Burn Permits
(LE-5). As of June 14, 2013, property owners wishing to
burn landscape debris on their property will be
prohibited
from doing so unless their project is approved by CAL FIRE for health
and safety reasons. Any such burning must be inspected
and approved before a permit may be reissued. As an alternative to
burning consider recycling, chipping or composting your defensible space
debris. Weather conditions will continue to be monitored and the burn
suspension will be lifted when soaking, wetting
rains return to our region, typically in October or November. Campfires
are allowed in designated campgrounds with permission of the
jurisdictional authority.
CAL
FIRE TCU Unit Chief Josh White explained, “Our region is entering the
typical hot, dry, summer weather pattern.
Suspending debris burning is an effective way of preventing wildfires
caused by escaped debris burns, especially as California enters this
summer period.”
