The Dream Act, signed by Governor Brown on July 26, 2011, provides thousands of illegal immigrant college students access to private scholarship funds. Supporters of the Dream Act are not stopping there. The advocates are also pushing for access to California public grants.
Overall, the estimated number of illegal immigrants or out-of-state students that will qualify for reduced tuition and could benefit from this bill equals approximately 41,000; less than 1% of total college enrollment numbers.
