WANTED
– 9th Grade to 12th Grade Students
The
National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution is once again joining
efforts with the National Italian American Foundation to sponsor a national
essay contest on Christopher Columbus. The contest is open to all students in
grades 9 through 12 in public, private or parochial schools or those who are
home schooled. This contest is conducted without regard to race, sex or
national origin. There are monetary prizes for our local Chapter’s winning
essay as well as first, second and third places should the student’s work
progress through the steps to the national level. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to
see an Amador or Calaveras County student reach such heights?

2013-2014 essay contest asks the student to write an 800 to 1200 word essay
entitled:
“How Do Americans View Christopher Columbus
and George Washington Today?”

these men?
