Town Square hosting Art and Jazz on the Square - press release

(COPPEROPOLIS, Calif.) – Copperopolis Town Square – the events, shopping and entertainment gathering place in Calaveras County – will host the third-annual “Art, Jazz & Wine on the Square” event on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For the first time, wine will be made available to attendees as they peruse the work of local artists. Beautiful hand-crafted paintings, jewelry, woodwork and more will be available at the show. A raffle for select pieces of artwork, wine and other items is scheduled as well.

Also new for this year is a food art competition. Youth, amateur and food professionals are invited to enter and use food products to create artwork or sculpture. Cash prizes totaling $525 will be awarded for First, Second and Third-Place winners, as well as a Grand Prize of $250 for Best of Show. Entry fees are $20 for adults, $5 for children under 16.  Entry forms are available at www.CopperopolisTownSquare.com or by calling 209.785.9700

Booth fees will benefit the Copperopolis Children’s Art Fund. Wine sales and raffle proceeds will be earmarked for a Bret Harte Unified High School District student art scholarship sponsored by the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club.

This year’s entertainment will be provided by popular local band, the Roger Garcia Trio, which kicks off the music at 10 a.m. Jana and Friends will keep it going from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“‘Art, Jazz & Wine on the Square’ was created to encourage arts in Copperopolis and the surrounding area. Now we can offer the scholarship because of our partnership with the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club,” says Linda Stefanick, Vice President and Event Director for Castle & Cooke Calaveras, Inc. “The addition of wine service and the food art competition promises to make this year’s event the most fun yet.”

Artists and vendors offering handcrafted goods may sign-up by contacting Larry Hoffman at Town Hall Arts at larry@townhallarts.com / 209.785.2050. A 10’ x 10’ space is $10. In addition, Plein Air artists are invited to contact Larry to select locations to set up their easels free of charge. Featured practitioner George Allen Durkee will be onsite painting Town Square landmark Griff’s BBQ during the event.
