'Much Ado about Nothing' is really SOMETHING!

Once again Murphys Creek Theater delivers an outstanding performance with a cast beyond compare.

Much Ado About Nothing by Murphys Creek Theater is not only for seasoned Shakespeare aficionados, it is for anyone who loves a witty, fast paced, multi-plot twisting play performed by actors rivaling those who grace the stages of Broadway.

Love at first sight, love born of witty repartee, deceit, lies, betrayal, and comedy all are interwoven through the performance of Much Ado About Nothing.

Written in the late 1500's by William Shakespeare, Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy that transcends time, yet holds the beauty of the language of old. If by chance you miss the meaning of the colorful and excessive use of Elizabethan vocabulary, not to fear, the actors of MCT have the uncanny ability to communicate their words perfectly through their actions and body language creating a theater experience you will love.

While it is difficult to point to one or more actors for their presence and skill, I find that I must - once again- point out the varied and extraordinary talents of Tyler Mattson. Mattson plays both Don John the brooding and villainous 'bastard' brother to Don Pedro and Dogberry the incompetent, dim-witted Chief of the citizen police with perfection. One the audience loves to hate, the other the audience loves to laugh with.

Also of note is Misty Day, playing Beatrice, who delivers lines so intricately woven with a language meant to tie tongues without one misstep. Her character is both independent yet strongly feminine, and endearing to all.

And finallyMatthew Hobgood who played not only the First Watchman but Balthasar and boy. Hobgood threw his whole being into every scene, and sometimes into walls. This young man gave it his all and in many scenes stole the show. His exuberance and thrill to be on stage was palpable. I look forward to watching his career grow.

But as written above, the entire cast is worthy of great praise.

The set design was sheer perfection, the lighting ideal, the lines delivered flawlessly and the ambiance exquisite.
