Steak and Shrimp Fest raised fund for Copper Elementary PTC

The Copperopolis Elementary school in conjunction with Payless IGA held their annual Steak and Shrimp Fest at the Armory on October 18th to an almost full house.

The monies raised will go to the Copperopolis Elementary PTC which in turn helps offset the cost of 6th grade science camp as well as supplies classrooms with much needed supplies and sponsors assemblies, field trips and more.

A big thank you to Payless IGA for their generosity each year with this function and to the Clements/Lockford Lions for cooking for the masses. Payless IGA, committed to our community, has also sponsored the cost of one child through science camp.

Steak and Shrimp fest - a feast with a lot of fun!

At the annual Copperopolis Elelmetary and Youngs IGA Steak and Shrimp fest the Lockeford Lions once again supported our community by cooking the 100+ steaks and sauteing the pounds and pounds of shrimp for the hungry event goers.

The community arrived in force to show their support for our Copper kids and the school as this event is the largest fundraiser of the year for our PTC, who supports our teachers and students with much needed classroom supplies, assemblies and field trips. Also this past year the PTC was able to help with the purchase of updated electronics for the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms, bringing the children into the new generation of communication and education.

Steak and Shrimp Fest - Youngs Payless IGA supporting our community

At the annual Copperopolis Elementary Steak and Shrimp Fest, Youngs Payless IGA Market partnered with Copperopolis Elementary for its 9th profitable and fun event, benefitting the children of our community.

According to Kevin Young, approximately 160+ meals were served and over $8,000.00 was raised for the children at Copperopolis Elementary.

In years past this money has gone to much needed school supplies in the classrooms, field trips, science camp and teacher grants for special supplies and projects in the classroom. With cuts ever present and always looming this event allows teachers and students alike to breathe a collective sigh of relief after each Steak and Shrimp Fest, knowing that education is still number one in our community.

One parent put it best, "The children are our future, its important to support those that educate them and give them the tools and supplies necessary to do the best job they can."

Thank you Youngs Payless IGA for continually supporting our community and our youth.

Payless IGA and Copper Parent Teacher Club raise $10,300 for Copper School

At the November student of the month assembly at Copperopolis Elementary School, representatives from Payless IGA presented Superintendent/Principal Julia Tidball with a check for $10,300 for Copperopolis Elementary.

The monies were raised at the annual Steak and Shrimp fest hosted each year by Young's Payless IGA and the Copperopolis Parent Teacher Club.

Kevin Young, of Young's IGA, enjoys giving back to the community and tries to support local schools in each of the towns where a Young's IGA is located; Lockford, Pioneer, and Copperopolis. He works with vendors that help with supplying foods needed, but picks up the cost of any foods and alcohol that is not donated by vendors. IGA and its vendors donate ALL the food and alcohol for this yearly event.

The Steak and Shrimp fest has been a long standing yearly tradition in Copper tha raises most of the funds needed to supply classrooms with essential supplies, offest field trip costs, purchase sports equipment, and fund celebrations for children doing well in school and assemblies.
