Senior of the Year award luncheon

Please mark your calendars to Celebrate and Honor Calaveras County’s 2014 Senior Volunteer of the Year at a luncheon hosted by the Calaveras County Commission on Aging.  The award luncheon, at $15.00 per person, will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at noon at the San Andreas Town Hall located at 24 Church Hill Road.  Reservations can be made by calling (209) 498-2246

Each nominee will be acknowledged by their District Supervisor and honored with a Certificate of Appreciation.  This event was initiated in 1976 to recognize those Seniors of the County, 60 years of age and older, who so unselfishly give their time and energy to support most organizations.  2013 Senior of the year was Marcy Crawford of Arnold.

Senior of the Year to be announced - make your reservation to be there

Make your reservation, now, to honor the 2014 Senior of the Year at noon on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Commission on Aging Luncheon to be held at the San Andreas Town Hall located at 24 Church Hill Rd., San Andreas.  Cost of the event is $15 and reservations can still be made by calling 209-498-2246.

This event is a tribute to an outstanding Senior in Calaveras County who volunteers the most precious commodity, of time, for the betterment of Calaveras County.  This recognition began in 1976 and, every year, District Supervisors recognize not only the winner but all those worthy volunteers nominated for the distinction.  It is an easily known fact that Seniors contribute more than 50% of the hours needed to drive most successful organizations.

2012 Senior of the Year Nominations Wanted

The Calaveras County Commission on Aging is looking for nominations for the 2012 Senior of the Year Awards. This is an opportunity to recognize volunteers who are a vital lifeline for many organizations throughout the county.

Eligibility requirements are that they must be a resident of Calaveras County, 60 years of age or older, an active volunteer in the county and not a previous winner. Nomination packets are available at the Calaveras Senior Center in San Andreas or online at www.calaverascountycoa.org. They can also be e-mailed or faxed to you. The nominations must be returned by April 2nd, 2012.
