ReHorse Rescue Golf Tournament a swinging good time

Saddle Creek hosted a golf tournament on Friday October 11, 2013 to raise funds for ReHorse Rescue, a horse rescue and rehabilitation facility located in Jamestown.

The weather was a beautiful sunny yet cool day for the 116 registered golfers. The event was played shogun style, where teams tee off simultaneously from different holes.

Last years reigning champs - correctional retirees - began at the 10 hole with hopes of retaining their title.

Our own Gordon Russ of Copperopolis recorded a Hole In One during the event on Friday on Hole #7!

Rehorse Rescue Summer Hay drive still going

Our Summer Hay Drive is still going. Thank you to all who have donated so far. We have had almost 100 bales donated. The hay drive benefits the horses at  ReHorse Rescue Ranch and all four of our local feed stores are participating including Hurst Ranch, Sonora Feed, Radovich Feed, and Bolton Feed. We are currently feeding up to ten bales a day, each costing between $15-$20 per bale. One bale of hay will feed a rescue horse for about 5 days.

Copper Hills 4-H Supports Re-Horse Rescue

At the May 7 Copper Hills 4-H Club Meeting, the members voted to donate $200 to Raquelle and Tinker at ReHorse Rescue Ranch in Jamestown.  Tinker has incurred a $2500 vet bill as she fights a bone infection in her left front foot.  Copper Hills 4-H has some loving and generous kids!  They worked hard at fund raising to earn their money and we're proud of each and every one of them for the compassion they showed in wanting to give back. Way to go 4-Hers, and thank you to Raquelle and shoer and volunteer Paul Kezis for all they do to save the unwanted, starving, abused and abandoned horses (and Barney the pig)!  Megan Borzone, President of Copper Hills 4-H, presented the check directly to Tinker, who handed it over to Raquelle in trade for some horse cookies.

On February 23, 2013 a group of children from Copper Hills 4H horse group along with some parents spent the day helping out at Rehorse Rescue in Jamestown.

The group was first introduced to Rehorse when they volunteered at Bridlewood's Horse, Art and Wine event over the past summer. They were so moved by what Raquelle and her team was doing with abandoned, injured and mistreated horses they wanted to help in any way they could. To learn from the ground up they chose to spend a day at the ranch helping Raquelle with all of her rescued horses.

They moved hay, shoveled stalls, blaketed animals and helped where needed.

Megan Borzone, President on Copper Hills 4H said that the most fun was "learning about the stories behind each horse and seeing the amazing progress they have made while at Rehorse Rescue." She said the biggest downside was realizing that "people can be so cruel to such beautiful and innocent animals." The children were able to see before pictures of the animals that they worked with and were hurt by the way they had been treated but were glad that there was such a place as Rehorse to save them. Megan herself had an opportunity to do a little bit of doctoring when she helped doctor an abscessed foot on one of the horses named Max.

The Aloft Art Gallery’s annual “On the Wild Side” show is all about horses this time. We are supporting ReHorse Rescue Ranch with 20% of art sales from participating artists going to help our four-legged friends at the ranch from February 9th through February 28th.

Horse, Wine and Art for Rehorse Rescue - not just horsin' around

Bridlewood once again hosted the fun, entertaining and tasty Horse, Wine and Art event to help raise much needed funds for Rehorse Rescue. There were vendors, shows, music, food and of course...wine! Many local vintners proudly poured their favorite varieties while music played and horses seemed to dance in the ring...all for a good cause.

Some of you may remember in early 2011 there were many horses that were rescued from deplorable conditions right here in Copperopolis. Well those horses were rescued, housed, given health care and love by Rehorse Rescue. Thanks to their efforts all of the horses rescued from that Copperopolis home are now healthy, happy and adoptable.

Rehorse is at full capacity now housing 50 horses. Each week their hearts break as more horses are needing homes due to neglect and or a change in a horse owners financial situation, but they can take no more. Grants are thin and donations are waning in this economy.

Horse, Wine and Art hosted by Bridlewood was specifically put on to benefit those horses in need.

Bridlewood presents the 3rd annual Horse, Wine and Art event for Rehorse Rescue

Rescued Copperopolis Horses are ready for adoption at Rehorse Rescue

Many of you might remember the 10 Morgan horses that were rescued back in January of 2011 from a Copperopolis home in Calaveras County. The Morgans, ranging in age from five to twenty eight, had been living in a small fenced in area filled with deep mud and manure. They had balls made of mud and feces hanging from their hair, one weighing more than 20+ pounds on the tail of one of the mares. All are doing great and are up for adoption. Firefox, GiGi, Dora, Ribbon, Lace, Blossom, Baby Girl, PJ, Cheyenne, and Sweet Pea are in need of training and are waiting to be placed in their forever home. If interested in possibly adopting or sponsoring one of the Morgans or to see any of our other horses at the rescue please contact ReHorse to schedule an appointment.

Rehorse Rescue looking for Sponsors for their 2012 Golf Tournament

                              

The ReHorse Rescue Ranch and the Saddle Creek Resort are teaming for our 3rd Annual Benefit Golf Tournament on Friday October 12, 2012.  All of the proceeds of the tournament will benefit the horses at the ReHorse Rescue Ranch.

The ReHorse Rescue Ranch is an organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, neglected, and unwanted horses.  After the horses are rehabilitated, they are then adopted out to approved, loving homes.  The rescue ranch, at any given time can be rehabilitating up to 50 horses.  The average cost of care for a horse ranges between $300 and $800 a month depending on the age and condition of the animal.  The Founders and volunteers have dedicated their lives to helping the horses in our community that would otherwise live lives of hunger, pain, and ultimately slow deaths or be sent to slaughter.
