Reader photo - truck in Lake Tulloch
According to some witnesses the truck was launching kayaks at the Kiva ramp and the brake was not set. The witnesses stated the submerging of the vehicle caused gasoline and oil to be dispersed into the lake.
The Copper Gazette will follow up on this. We hope to have answers for you soon.
Update: 8-26-14
According to the Sheriff Dept the vehicle had been retrieved from the water and was gone with the driver when officers arrived on scene.

Shot of Helicopter Vortices
On 3-7-14 at 12:41 pm a shot of a transport helicopter was taken over Copper showing clear vortices from the blade tips.
Blade tip vortices form at the outermost end of a rotor blade; a zone of reduced pressure forms above the blade and a region of increased pressure forms below the blade. As the air flows around the blade tip to reduce the pressure difference, a concentrated vortex is created behind the blade tip.

Special Request photo rerun
A special request was made to rerun a photo from my year in review through my lens collection.
The following picture is of Vietnam Veteran Donald Schand as he placed a bouquet of white flowers at the base of the flag pole in the Copperopolis Cemetery on Memorial Day 2013, symbolizing purity and innocence.
Other flowers placed that day were red for hardiness and valor and blue for vigilance, preservation and justice.
