Wildfire in Yosemite prompts evacuations
A fire burning in Yosemite National Park has forced evacuations and road closures.
The town of El Portal has been evacuated and Foresta is in the process of being evacuated.

Areas Closed due to RIM fire re-open - KCRA news
Yosemite
National Park reopened areas that were previously off-limits to the
public because of the large Rim Fire, which consumed 255,000 acres of
forest land last summer.
Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias and hiking trails in the Hetch Hetchy area are now open, the National Park Service said Wednesday.
Visitors are being alerted of possible hazards in the area, including uneven ground, potential rockfall and downed debris and trees.
Fire restrictions are also rescinded.

KCRA reports - Senator Leland Yee arrested on bribery and corruption charges
State Sen. Leland Yee has been arrested by FBI agents on bribery and corruption charges, NBC Bay Area is reporting.
The FBI has confirmed with KCRA 3 that it conducted multiple raids Wednesday morning in the Bay Area and Sacramento.
A KCRA crew has confirmed that California Highway Patrol officers and the Sergeant of Arms are outside Yee's office at the state Capitol.

Dismembered body found at Groveland campsite; man charged in homicide - KCRA news
Stockton police on Friday followed up on an unusual homicide investigation in Tuolumne County.
On Thursday, officers learned of a possible slaying that took place at a home in the 4500 block of Mist Trail Drive, according to a news release from the Stockton Police Department.
Police went to the house and found the residents had moved out.
Officers said they found evidence of a bloody crime scene, but no body.
Detectives investigated further and determined a homicide must have taken place at the home -- and that the person behind the killing may be in Tuolumne County, police said. It's not clear exactly how investigators developed the information.
A suspect, 38-year-old Bryan Cook, was located with the help of the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office.
He was found with a human torso at a Groveland campfire site. The body is believed to be related to the homicide case. Several more dismembered parts were found in a car at the secured site.

Deadly Officer Shooting shuts down I-5 - KCRA news

Interstate 5 in Stockton is shut down after a police officer shot and killed an attempted homicide suspect, police said.
Southbound Interstate 5 is expected to remain closed until noon Thursday.
Police officers were tracking the suspect from the San Jose area when his car became disabled on the freeway.
The 43-year-old suspect was wanted in connection with an attempted homicide out of San Jose and on suspicion of domestic violence in Merced.

98,000 without power in Stockton and foothills of Calaveras and Amador
An estimated
98,000 people are without power from East Stockton to foothill
communities in Calaveras and Amador counties, according to PG&E
officials.
The outages started about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.
PG&E crews said the source of the widespread outage is “at the transmission level.”
The cause of the outage is unknown at this point.
There is no estimated time of restoration.

LAX evacuated after reports of gunfire

of Los Angeles International Airport were being evacuated Friday
morning after reports of shots being fired there, police said, and a
"ground stop" was issued for planes scheduled to arrive at LAX.
Airport officials said a police incident began about 9:30 a.m. at Terminal 3 at LAX, airport spokeswoman Nancy Suey Castles said.
A person with a firearm approached a checkpoint at Terminal 3 and opened fire at a Transportation Security Administration agent, a former Los Angeles Police Department ranking officer who was at the scene told CNN. Sources told the Los Angeles Times two or three TSA employees were hit and that the suspect was also wounded.
Meanwhile, a "ground stop" has been issued for planes scheduled to arrive at LAX, the Federal Aviation Administration said. A ground stop means flights destined for the affected airport are held at their departure point, according to the FAA.
Passenger Robert Perez, who was getting ready to fly Virgin Air, was taking a nap in the terminal when panic erupted, he told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS.
"I heard a popping sound, and everybody was diving for cover," Perez told the station. "The TSA said there was a shooting in the terminal and evacuate the building."

'Several' killed in DC naval yard shooting - KCRA News
A
gunman dressed in all black fired shots Monday inside the U.S. Navy
Yard, injuring at least 10 people, according to the Navy and a
Washington police spokesman.
The U.S. Navy tweeted there are "several confirmed injuries with reports of fatalities."
A shooter was "contained" but not yet in custody, and was believed to be barricaded in a building on site, an official told The Associated Press.
The injured included a Washington police officer who has been hospitalized, and a base security guard officer, said Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Saray Leon.
The incident occurred at 8:20 a.m. when several shots were fired inside the headquarters for Naval Sea Systems Command in southeast Washington. An "active shooter" remained inside the building, the Navy said.
