Body Recovery at Lake Tulloch

Resident of Riverbank, CA


At approximately 4 pm today a call came out of a possible drowning victim off of O'Byrnes Ferry bridge.

According to Tuolumne County Sheriff PIO Scott Johnson the body was thought to have been spotted in the water from a passing vehicle.

Both Calaveras and Tuolumne Sheriff Dept worked on the recovery of the body located submerged just feet from the shoreline on the Tuolumne side of the bridge. The dive team appeared to be from Tuolumne.

A tackle box, fishing implements and a fish were located on the shoreline near where the body was submerged, yet it is not known if these items belong to the victim or not.

The recovery was completed at approximately 6:20 pm.

The scene was being treated as a crime scene.

Drowning, South Shore Tulloch Lake

             On 05-18-13, at about 1838 hrs, The Sheriff’s Office received a call from South Shore Tulloch, at the swim area, of a missing adult male. The Patrol deputy responded and found that the male, later identified as Andrew William Duncan 37 of Manteca, had been missing for about 30 minutes. Duncan was last seen swimming, in the swim area, about 5-7 yards off shore.

            Search and Rescue and Boat Patrol Personnel responded to the lake to begin a search in the area Duncan was last seen. Duncan’s body was located at about 2130 hours. Duncan’s body was recovered from a depth of about eight feet. Duncan’s family and friends were present and identified him. 

Youth Drowns in Yosemite

Yosemite, CA -- A 10 year-old boy has tragically died in Yosemite National Park, and another child remains missing.
Yosemite Ranger Kari Cobb says a family from Southern California was hiking in the park yesterday afternoon and stopped for a break near the Vernal Fall footbridge. Family members got into the Merced River, and two young boys, one 10 and the other six, got swept away in the current. Approximately 150 yards downriver, the 10 year-old was pulled from the water by a park visitor, and he was unsuccessfully given CPR.
