Summer Reading Program in full Swing at Copper Library

Kids from ages 4 on up are having fun participating in the Copper Library summer reading program.
The program which began as soon as school let out runs to August 8, 2013.
A child in the reading program gets a point for every 15 minutes of reading time. Points are added up to receive prizes.
Volunteers or the librarian will help your child pick an age appropriate book that will engage them and interest them....hopefully creating a love of reading.

Summer reading program - a great way to pass a hot day

The annual Copperopolis summer reading program has already hit its stride with a whopping 54 children signed up!

The program allows a child to read at their pace, hopefully 15 minutes per day. The children keep a time log accruing 1 point for every 15 minutes read. That 1 point is equal to 1 ticket, which when combined with other tickets, can be used in the library 'store' to purchase fun items such as coloring books, balloons, hula hoops, water bottles, pens, etc.

Copper Library Summer Readers logged in 600 hours of reading

Over the summer the Copperopolis branch library hosted their yearly Summer Reading Program titled "one World Many Stories" from June 7th to August 12, 2011, with 42 children participating in the reading program, logging in just over 600 hours of summer reading.

The summer reading program wasn't just about reading, it was about crafts, exploration of other countries, and sharing stories. Volunteers, Aurora Qualls and Carla Lucas, arranged free weekly craft classes for the children. Each craft correlated to a story from 'around the world' that was read to the children.
