Copper Elementary halloween carnival a spooky, fun blast!

The Copper Elementary Halloween carnival held Thursday October 30th showed the excitement and enthusiasm our community and kids have for a fun Halloween. The costumes were creative and downright adorable!
The event had a little bit of everything for young trick or treaters.
Pastor Sean was, once again, the cake walk master of games handed out many delicious snacks to lucky winners.
There was bean toss, ball toss, fishing, and a variety of other creative games.
There was even a haunted house staffed by spooky 6th graders.
A fun, safe event for the kids of the community.
Thank you Copper School and Copper 6th graders and parents.

Copper School hosts parent education night

Teachers and administration of Copperopolis elementary school held an informational evening on Wednesday October 23, 2014 to help parents understand the new technology and curriculum utilized in today's classrooms.

The evening began with pizza and drinks. As the parents settled in, Miss DeSimone brought up the student.mtuesd.net site that all children use at school daily. She walked the parents through accessing the site and utilizing the programs within it.

"There will not longer be the excuse, 'I forgot my homework' or 'I forgot my text book' as all the information is also on the site, accesible and can be printed." Said DeSimone. Parents asked if printers were not available, if hand written work was acceptable. The answer was, yes, as the educators just want the student to be able to complete the work.

Copper Elementary welcomes new librarian Aurora Qualls

Aurora Qualls is a very familiar face at Copperopolis Elementary as a volunteer and at times paid staff on the playground, the kitchen and within the classrooms.

With three sons, Austin, Ben and Adam all at one time or another students at Copper, Aurora has seen her fair share of the inside of classrooms and the library.

Last year Aurora was able to substitute in the library and really felt at home. When the position came open she applied at once.

Since Aurora has a passion for books it should come as no surprise that her favorite part of the job, besides all the children, is the unlimited access to books. "I love finding new books I haven't read."

Her favorite book? The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

Copperopolis Elementary School receives Title 1 Academic Acheivement Award

Copperopolis Elementary is the recipient of the Title I Academic Achievement Award for 2014.

"I am so excited to share the news that Copperopolis Elementary has received the Title I Achievement Award for 2014. This success is a result of a group effort that includes our staff, families and army of volunteers who support all of the students at Copper Elementary.” Said Principal Karen Vail.

According to Vail, to receive this distinction “the school must demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards. Additionally, the school's socioeconomically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years.”
