(COPPEROPOLIS,
Calif.) – Saddle Creek Resort – the Castle
& Cooke golf community in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras County –
has hired Rick Morgan as General Manager.
A 30-year
veteran of the California golf industry, Morgan was previously general manager
of Woodbridge Golf & Country Club in Woodbridge, Calif. During his decade-long
tenure, he oversaw the club’s transformation into a multi-million dollar
operation consisting of 27 holes of golf, swimming and tennis facilities, and
full dining services.
Most
recently, Morgan directed major clubhouse renovations and new swimming facility
construction projects that were completed on time and under budget. Prior to
managing Woodbridge, he was with The Springs Club in Rancho Mirage, CA.
“We’re
very excited to bring Rick onboard as a key contributor to our continued success,”
says Darlene
Mohlke, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Castle & Cooke. “He has an
impressive track record managing large projects and his amicable, approachable
personality is perfect for the team-oriented environment at Saddle Creek.”
Morgan will be responsible for daily
operations, budgeting and personnel decisions for Saddle Creek’s award-winning
golf course, Copper Grille restaurant and rental accommodations. He takes over
for longtime GM Bob Higgins, who recently retired after helping Saddle
Creek become one of the region’s premier golf residential communities.
Saddle Creek is draped across undulating
terrain and features stunning views of the Sierra and
Yosemite. Since opening in 1996, the par 72, 6,826-yard course has been
heralded by players of all skill levels. It is annually ranked by Golfweek as a “Best Course You Can Play”
in California alongside acclaimed layouts like Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill,
Pasatiempo and Torrey Pines’ South Course.

About
Saddle Creek Resort
Situated in the rolling foothills of the Central Sierra region just two hours from the Bay Area and 1.5 hours from Sacramento, Saddle Creek Resort sits in the heart of the Copper Valley in Copperopolis. Owned and operated by nationally-renowned developer Castle & Cooke, the premier Northern California golf community is site of the company’s newest Oak Collection homes. Custom construction, eco-friendly “Green-Wise” features and dramatic vistas of the Sierra Nevada make them ideal for vacationers, families and retirees.
Golfers
will discover an ethereal collection of shimmering lakes, native trees,
indigenous grasses and 100 bunkers punctuating a challenging, thought-provoking
course from tee to green. To create an atmosphere of tranquility and isolation,
architect Carter Morrish devised a routing in which no two holes run parallel
to each other.
In proximity to Saddle Creek Resort is Copperopolis Town Square, a traditionally-designed, Gold Rush era-themed “country town” that is the retail and event hub of the Copper Valley in the Central Sierra region. Featuring charming boutiques, eateries and specialty shops, the pedestrian-friendly Town Square is the perfect place to spend some time after a round of golf.
