Sheriff Volunteers at St Patrick's Day Parade

In March 2014, during the Irish Day Parade in Murphys where thousands of visitors attended the traditional festival, the Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Unit participated in this public event by providing patrol, crowd and traffic control.  Under the supervision of Volunteer Captain Betty Miner, Sgt. Vic Farina and Sgt. Bob Fienberg, the Volunteers assisted in various activities making this festival a safe and enjoyable event for the public.

The Volunteer Unit is looking at 2014 as the Year of Action in its recruitment effort so as to take on additional workload assisting the Sheriff’s Office and enabling the Sheriff’s deputies to focus on their primary duty of law enforcement.

Serious-minded Calaveras County citizens, retired or semi-retired, wishing to help their community and meeting the qualification and requirement are encouraged to apply by calling the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 754-5600, or visit sheriff@calaveras.ca.us.  Seniors are welcome and no law enforcement experience is necessary.
