Studio 4 Dance Theater performing "The Nutcracker" in Angels Camp Dec 15-17

Tickets are now available for Studio 4 Dance Theater’s upcoming production of "The Nutcracker" at the Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Performances are 6pm, Thursday, December 15; 6pm, Friday, December 16; and 1pm and 6pm, Saturday, December 17. Tickets are only $7 for children and $15 for adults and audiences are encouraged to purchase tickets early to this popular holiday classic.
Artistic Director Tammie Lee recreates the production each year to showcase the skills and abilities of the ballet students at her Studio 4 School of Dance. This year’s extravaganza features more than 65 dancers, including Arnold resident Katelyn Smith as Clara and Murphys resident Shelby Warner in the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Jesse Campbell (also of Murphys) as the Snow Queen, and Tammie Lee (of Angels Camp) as the Dew Drop Fairy. Sonora resident Lars Johnson has just joined the cast as the Cavalier, replacing Sean Lewis. Mr. Johnson has been studying ballroom dance. "I’m impressed with the dedication and ability of the Studio 4 dancers," he said, "and I am looking forward to being part of such a great production."

The story of "The Nutcracker" follows young Clara on a magical journey with her Nutcracker Prince. Vibrant costumes, colorful sets, and the memorable music of Tchaikovsky are all woven into a swiftly-paced two-hour show (including intermission with holiday refreshments) to provide a fun and festive treat for audiences of all ages. For the first time,
audience members will have an opportunity for photos and autographs with the Sugar Plum Fairy after the matinee performance on Saturday, December 17. Many local businesses and families have stepped up to sponsor this year’s event. Major sponsors include Golden State Cellular, the Elliot Family, Timothy J O'Connor DDS, Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, and the White and Phillips Family.
Studio 4 Dance Theater is located in Vallecito and has been presenting ballet performances in Calaveras County for the last seven years. Students include children and adults from Calaveras and Tuolumne counties ranging in age from 3-50 years old. After two years producing "The Nutcracker" under the caring wing of the Calaveras Arts Council, Studio 4 Dance Theater is now its own 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is managing this entire production.
