Vehicle VS. Pedistrian Accident

Subject: Vehicle VS. Pedestrian Accident

4 October 2011, at approx. 8:30 am, Sonora Police Department and Sonora Fire Department responded to the 400 block of S. Stewart Street for a report of a vehicle VS. pedestrian accident, with the pedestrian down in the roadway bleeding from a head injury.
During the investigation it was determined that Dawn Davenport, 35 of Sonora, was southbound on S. Stewart Street driving at or below the speed limit, when Deborah Nevarez, 52 of Sonora, stepped out in front of Davenport’s vehicle for some unknown reason. Witnesses stated that Davenport didn’t have time to react to Nevarez stepping out in front of her.

Nevarez was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center and then was air lifted to Doctor’s Hospital in Modesto. Nevarez sustained numerous broken bones and lacerations, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
