Support Needed for KQBM- Local Radio for Calaveras County and Beyond

The Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families (BMCYF) has recently
been granted a construction permit for a full power non-commercial
educational FM radio station.  This station will serve Calaveras, Amador
and Tuolumne counties as KQBM, 90.7 FM.  Acquiring the construction
permit is a feat in and of itself that took 4 long years of waiting
after the directors of the Youth Center had the forethought to apply
during an extremely rare FCC application window.
Now BMCYF is ready to begin the process of building this community radio
station and we need your help to do so.  The benefits of this station
will include community building opportunities, disaster response and
preparedness, local news and information source that broadcasts 24 hours
a day as well as youth programming that can get our children involved
and wanting to stay in our community.  These benefits are only the
beginning of a long list whose only limit is the hearts and minds of the
community members that the station will serve.
Currently we are in the application process for a PTFP, Public
Telecommunications Facilities Program, grant to help fund construction
of KQBM.  This process requires letters of support from organizations,
businesses and community members in the area that this radio will serve.
That means you if you are a resident of Amador, Calaveras or Tuolumne
Cos.   We must have your letter no later than Friday, March 11.  We know
this is short notice but this is the system we must comply with.
Thank you for taking the time to support this community endeavor,
Sean
