Local Man Raising Awareness For the Mason Kane Foundation

Remembering a time when the family came together as one to help take care of a young nephew Mason Kane that had been born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy brings back fond memories for Copper resident Jason McBride. “Everyone wanted to pitch in…to help out.” Looking at pictures of Mason with his infectious smile, it’s easy to see why those who did help, did so with love.

Unfortunately the story of Mason is a short one, Mason passed away at the young age of 2.

The family, determined to have his name “live on in a positive way”, began the Mason Kane Foundation. A Foundation with a heartfelt mission, “to honor children who left this world too soon, by providing financial relief, empathetic support and resources for families who have suffered the tremendous loss of a child.”

Being a 501(c) 3 allows the Mason Kane Foundation to raise funds through events and fundraisers, as well as accept donations. These monies are used in turn to offer financial aid for things that most of us tend to forget cost money, headstones, urns, etc. The weight of the loss is difficult enough to deal with, without the additional financial burden associated with that loss.

Though based in Montana, the Foundation will help those who have lost a child in any state. Their guidelines are simple, “We can help families whose child was either 18 years old or younger or had a disability that required them to live at home until their passing.
We work directly with the businesses providing the services.
The amount of financial help we provide will depend on funds available at that time.”

Jason, sporting a Mason Kane foundation sign on his car will gladly tell anyone that happens to ask just what the foundation can, has, and will do for those families grieving. He happens to be the son of the founders of the foundation, though he won't tell you that on the spot, he will tell you though of the wonder of his nephew Mason and the  people who's lives the foundation has touched and in doing his small part in spreading the word he has "found comfort in letting Mason's name live on."

While Mason may be gone…he will not be forgotten.

If you or anyone you know is in need of the assistance or would like to help the Mason Kane Foundation please contact them at klinge2620@live.com or visit www.masonkane.com.
