CFPD Sponsors Two Volunteers to attend Calaveras County Firefighter Academy

Copperopolis Fire Protection District is sponsoring Johnathan Villanueva and Andrew Ritchie as volunteers of the district to attend the Calaveras County Firefighter Academy.

The 2011 Calaveras County Firefighter Academy is a 19 week course that is designed to give the fire candidate or new recruit all the basic certifications and courses required to function as a California Firefighter.

Upon successful completion of the Firefighter Academy the candidates will receive:
Firts Responder
Professional Rescuer CPR and AED
Confined SPace Awareness
Haz-Mat First Responder Operational
Fire Controll III
S-103, S-131, S-190


Upon successful completion of the academy both Johnathan and Andrew can return to CFPD, the sponsoring district, to continue and complete the process to obtain a Fire Fighter I certificate.

CFPD supplies each volunteer attending the academy with structure turn out gear and wild land fire gear. The students are able to utilize other equipment as needed to complete the course.
