Avast ye Scurvy Dogs!
cave looting!Every year, around the second week of August, a strange sort of malady comes over the members of the Twisted Few. Perhaps a slight eye twitch, an sudden affinity for parrots, a tendency to walk as if on a peg leg, and the occasional "ARRRRRRRR!!" creeping into their speech...
Fortunately this is not a time for folk cures from some grizzled old sod in a back alley apothecary (or antibiotics for that matter)... rather, it's time for that annual barrel-sucking day of debauchery - the Cave Looting!

Twisted Oak brings home the Gold at the Riverside International Wine Competition

One of our favorite competitions of the year is the Riverside International Wine Competition. The level of competition is high and they pull together an excellent corps of judges. It's especially gratifying when we do well in a competition like this.
This year, two Twisted Oak wines earned top honors:

Twisted Oak Winery boasts wine in top 100 wines of 2012

Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to announce that our estate-grown 2009 Calaveras County "Torcido" Garnacha has earned #50 on the Wine Enthusiast Magazine Top 100 Wines of 2012.

Earlier this year when the 2009 Torcido was given a 93 point score by Wine Enthusiast, reviewer Virginie Boone had this to say:

"What a wine. It tries to intimidate. At first, by its bottle size and alcohol level, but in the glass this 100% Garnacha is like a purring kitten—well a purring 20-pound Maine Coon cat, joyous in its pretty red fruit, and its earthy, meaty, vanilla and cinnamon toast range of goodness. All lush, Twisted Oak’s Torcido is, like a retro soap opera, brave and beautiful."

The 2009 Torcido (which means "twisted" in Spanish) is 100% Garnacha, grown in our estate vineyard located in Vallecito, Calaveras County, California. Garnacha is a Spanish variant of Grenache, and produces hearty reds like our Torcido. Detailed technical info and consumer reviews for the 2009 Torcido may be found on our web site at http://www.twistedoak.com/torcido2009.
