1 November 2013, at approx. 3:30 pm, officers from the Sonora Police Department responded to South Stewart Street to a report of a male subject punching telephone poles and yelling at passing vehicles.
When officers contacted the subject, he took a fighting stance and challenged the officers. An officer drew a TASER and ordered the subject to the ground and the subject complied. The officers approached the subject and placed him in handcuffs.
The subject was identified as Michael Didion, 32. It was determined that Didion was a parolee at large out of Stockton. Once Didion was handcuffed, he started resisting the officers and refused to get into the back seat of the patrol vehicle. Didion then started slamming his head into the patrol vehicle causing damage to the patrol vehicle.
An officer grabbed Didion in an attempt to keep him from hitting his head against the patrol car and hurting himself. A struggle ensued, resulting in an officer breaking a finger and causing other injuries to his hand. Didion was finally subdued and placed in the patrol vehicle.
Didion was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked for felony resisting arrest; felony obstructing a public officer; felony parolee at large; misdemeanor battery on an officer; misdemeanor vandalism.
