Calaveras Arts Council Announces Ovations 2014 Schedule and Performing Artists
For
over 30 years, Calaveras Arts Council has brought a variety of concerts
to the rural residents and guests of the Gold Country. Ovations 2014
Performing Arts Series features five high quality, affordable
performances at Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret
Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp. Four of the
performances are on a Sunday at 3:00 pm and one is on Saturday at 2:00pm.

Michela Macfarlane and Cantamos
Local
Musical Protégé Michela Macfarlane along with Cantamos bring together
the spirit of Bel Canto with their arrangement of several arias and
cantatas. Macfarlane is famous for singing in seven different languages
songs from around the world. The five-some are experienced musicians
who have performed their special type of music throughout the foothills
for many years

Mandelring Quartet
As
winners of several major international competitions the Mandelring
Quartet has emerged as one of the important string quartets of today.
Their remarkable homogeneity of
sound, intonation and phrasing has become its distinguishing
characteristic; four individuals who play as one in their shared
determination to always seek out the innermost core of the music and
remain open to the musical truth. All
this combines to make the Mandelring Quartet one of the most
high-profile ensembles on the international chamber music scene.

Lily Cai Chinese Dance
For over 20 years Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company has entertained
audiences with a unique blend of ancient Chinese dance with American
modern dance. Cai, who no longer dances but continues to serve as
choreographer and artistic director, blends ballet and modern dance into
her shows that introduce some of the traditional dances of her
country. These striking dancers have performed across the country,
amazing audiences with dance from various Chinese eras and cultures.
Lily Cai Chinese Dance is performing a special dance routine for this
family matinee.

Dave Stamey
Dave Stamey has been a cowboy, a mule packer, a dude wrangler, and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. He has been voted three times Entertainer of the Year, three times Male Performer of the Year and twice Songwriter of the Year by the Western Music Association. He received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists and has delighted audiences in twenty states. He’s delighted audiences in twenty states, and finds that he prefers this to being stomped by angry horses.

The non-profit Calaveras County Arts Council operates Gallery Calaveras at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Fridays and Saturdays, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The gallery offers free parking both in front and in back and is
handicapped accessible. The current gallery art show and sale is "The
Affordable Gifts of Art” which will runs through January 4th,
