(San Andreas, CA) On October 26, 2013 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies and Angels Camp Police Officers manned three locations in the county where residents were given the opportunity to dispose of unused, expired, and/or illegal drugs. The event was co-sponsored by the Calaveras County Office of Education, Calaveras County Behavioral Health Services, and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention. In total, approximately 400 pounds of medications, prescription and over-the counter, and other drugs were collected. The drugs will be turned over to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration for destruction.
A similar event will be held in April of 2014. The specific date and locations will be announced at a later time.
