Operation Christmas Child - over 450 boxes from Copperopolis Community

Imagine it is your birthday or Christmas or any other holiday when you receive gifts...and there are none. There are millions of children around the world just like you...who have never received a gift...ever.

But suppose you could change that for one child? That's what Operation Christmas Child does. Packing a simple shoe box with items such as tooth paste, toothbrush, a bar of soap and washcloth, a comb or brush, a pencil, pen, crayons and other school supplies, then adding a few toys or a small doll or stuffed animal, a pair of socks or tee-shirt will bring joy and hope to a child living in poverty.

Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse, is the largest children's project of its kind.   This year  during November 18-25, you can take your gift-filled shoe box to one of five drop-off locations in our three-county areas: First Baptist Church in Angels Camp; Sonora Baptist Church in Sonora; Grace Fellowship in San Andreas; Full Gospel Fellowship in Burson; or Sierra Baptist Church in Pioneer.

By filling and giving a shoe box gift, you will be joining millions of individuals, church groups, scout troops, and other organizations in the United States and 11 other countries who fill shoe boxes each year.  Many people host "shoe box packing parties," and in the past few weeks Lake Tulloch Bible Church, Potter's Touch, and the Hopper family hosted packing parties resulting in over 450 shoe boxes for children around the world.

Find out more about Operation Christmas Child, including information about drop-off locations anywhere in the U.S., on their website: www.samaritanspurse.org.  It's an amazing opportunity you won't want to miss.  You can also contact Patt Hopper at 770-3631 for more information locally.
