According to Supervisor Ponte a sewage leak "was detected on the O'Byrnes
Bridge (Calaveras) side of lake about 10-14 days ago. Various public
agencies were notified - Cal Cty, CCWD, Tri Dam, CA Water Board, etc.
The situation was quickly taken care of to avoid further spills,
signage was posted in area. Various agencies and property owner are now
working on long term solutions."
Update 9:31 am:
Response from Susan Larson Tri-Dam:
"Yes,
a complaint was filed about a potential sewage spill involving a
private line under the reservoir. Immediately receipt of the complaint,
a joint inspection was filed with all responsible local agencies
represented including the Calaveras County Water District, Calaveras
County Environmental Management Agency, Calaveras County Building
Department, Calaveras County Code Compliance and Tri-Dam. At the time
of the inspection, the line was closed and is non-operational, upon
order by the County and the onsite holding is being pumped and the waste
is being transported to the treatment facility. Calaveras County then
quickly issued a Notice of Violation and request for submittal of a
corrective plan. Tri-Dam was notified, participated in these meetings
and supports the County’s prompt response and action to protect
reservoir waters."
