Fire BehaviorThe fire burned actively throughout the day. Active fire continued to north in Duckwall area and up Cherry Creek and the Tuolumne River Canyons. Spotting continued on the west flack of the fire. Fire continues to burn actively to the east along the Mather Road and southeast along Pilot Ridge.
Significant EventsStructure defense continues. Highway 120 is closed four miles west of Groveland Ranger Station and four miles east of Buck Meadows. Ferretti Road was closed. Access to the fire is still a concern for fire crews and equipment

RemarksThe Rim Fire has transitioned into unified command with CalFire. Approximately 4,500 structures are threatened. Fire continues to spread eastward. Due to inaccessible, steep terrain and active fire behavior a combination of direct and indirect attack will be used on this incident. The Southeast Blue team is shadowing the South Central Sierra Interagency Management Team today and will assume command of the Rim Fire tomorrow.
