Statement by Assemblymember Olsen on Passage of Majority Vote Budget

Assemblymember Kristin Olsen, R-Modesto, issued the following statement following the Legislature's passage of a majority vote budget:
"Californians deserve an on-time, balanced budget that reflects their priorities, but that's not what this proposal is. This budget is only a temporary solution and does nothing to fix California's long-term fiscal health. To get California back on track, we need to right-size government, create jobs, make structural reforms and prioritize public safety and education.
"The Democrat's budget violates the will of the voters and Proposition 26 by raising taxes without a two-thirds vote of the Legislature. That is irresponsible and will likely be litigated in court."
